Introduction
It is with great pleasure that I followed the web 2.0 course at the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Mauritius.
Special thanks to the CTA as well as the Faculty of Agriculture who selected me as well as 24 other participants for this second batch.
Day1
A welcome address was done by the Officer of Charge of the Faculty of Agriculture.
An ice breaking exercise was done which was very fruitful. We were asked to talk with our peer next to us . After a few minutes we were asked to describe our partner using the first letter of his first name (using an adjective). That was really fun...........
A learning pack a distributed to each of the participants.
Key differences between web1.0 and web2.0 were explained.
In Web 1.0 it is only for read. But in web2.0 you can express yourself by writing.
The former was only for corporate bodies. And the later is about you and your communities.
In web.20 you not only interact with site and webmaster you can also communicate with others who access that website.
Web 1.0 was the age of one and only language i.e. HTML web 2.0 is the field of XML.
While web1.0 was depended on advertising, web 2.0 has been popularized by word of mouth.
Previously was meant for website but web 2.0 is not for site it is also about blogs.
In Web 1.0 there was nothing to exchange. Everything was about one way.
Through the emergence of web 2.0 you can exchange your thoughts with
other and easily converse with them.
I believe that in the coming years a new version of web (skynet) will come into existence.
Using Advanced Google search was a very good learning opportunity. You can refine your search and even add alerts to your email .
RSS feeds was also explained and how it can be integrated in a blog or website.
All trainees were provided with meta cards and were required to write on the above and share their views on the democracy wall twice a day.

Remote collaboration techniques was explained.
All trainees were given the opportunity to create google documents as well as the creation of wikis and VOIP was explained.The google doc i created can be found here.
I also created a google form for conducting a small quiz.The document will open in an excel sheet. To view the online form click "Go to live form" in the forms submenu.
The trainers delivered the course at a good pace.

Online mapping using Google Maps was explained
We created a map location on a specific location to another location.
Blogging also was explained through practical sessions.
Again the trainers delivered the course at a good pace.
Google chats and Skype were are explained . Each trainee had the opportunity to create a skype account. A practical session with a video call was made live between a sender and a receiver.
Screens were shared and it is possible to transfer files.

Linkedin
Linkedin as a professional website was explained( how to create a profile, add connections, create a curriculum vitae, join groups, and companies. The Trainer also explained to the participants
how to customize the settings on their account.
This platform can also be used for job hunting.
Dgroups: refer to the starting point for groups and communities in international development.It uses essentially emails to collaborate through a specific discussion.
Facebook: the most used online sharing network. Most trainees have already a face book account.
